THANKSGIVING - southern comfort style

What a relaxing and wonderful weekend full of love and relaxation and fun! We traveled down to TN on Wednesday after school to spend the holiday with Scott's parents. It was fabulous! Being there is always fun. Of course, being away from home means I am NOT in charge of anything. But being with my mother-in-law is always fun, work or not. We prepared the potatoes, deviled eggs (I chose those two to be in charge of because they are my personal favorite side dishes), stuffing, green beans, crackers....etc etc etc. My mother-in-law can never have just a simple meal...it is always way too much food, but I love it that way. She puts EVERY part of her in everything she does. My sister-in-law brought the turkey and cooked it upside down. Well, maybe others have that secret too...cooking it breast side down. It was GREAT! All the juices ran down to the white meat so it was moist and tasty. The food was wonderful! The company was great! And the day was relaxing and fun! Because we were ALL together we took a family picture. Who knows when we will ALL be together again. Hopefully at Christmas....but who knows.

So, I had a great Thanksgiving being thankful for family! The weather was beautiful. The kids were able to play football outside without coats on. Being outside, not cooped up inside, makes all the difference.

And for the first time in ages we adults got to have an uninterrupted conversation -- at least the women. In years past we are always taking care of kids who need attention. Not that attending to them is bad, it was just different this year to fix only one plate and have EVERYONE potty trained! Life is different....and kind of nice.

Here are a few pictures to show the excitement of the day.

The whole family.
